Townsend’s Warbler

We have a small backyard, but its row of native shrubs is a magnet for many species of migratory passerines. I couldn’t believe it when I saw a flash of this juvenile male warbler foraging at eye level to our deck last fall and dropped everything to sneak out and capture this photo. In breeding season they are high in the mountains and high in the treetops so can be a difficult bird to photograph except during migration. I felt very lucky it paid us a visit. Penticton, BC Canada
