When I first spied this little one I thought; “It’s a little anhinga chick” because one could see it diving under the water just like that species. Upon closer inspection spied the chicken like beak and “adorableness” and these quickly became one of my favorite of the Florida Marsh Species! Research revealed this species travel “at night in flocks to avoid predators”. Thought THAT was an odd statement as the most I have ever seen together was three. Then I visited Viera Wetlands in Melbourne Florida and there they were a whole flock of them! Amazing species indeed!
