This Painted Bunting has been at a feeder In Newport, R.I. for over a week or more in early March 2014, even though our temps have been very cold with some snow flurries. The bunting has been with flock of House Sparrows and visits the feeder a few times a day.
Some long hours of sitting & waiting rewarded me with this image. I think the sighting for this bird in R.I. is less than twenty individuals since 1900. A rare treat indeed in the middle of Winter for many lucky birders here.
I used a Canon 7D camera with Canon 400mm, 5.6 lens in manual mode, ISO 400 @f 8.0 at 1/500 sec., auto white balance.
