Taken in Ilha Grande, Brazil, 31 May 2020.
I saw this beautiful tanager eating berries on the trees on the west side of Abraão beach for a couple of days in a row. He was not nearly as shy as some of the other tanagers I’ve encountered in the rainforests of the island and I was able to get a few good photos. According to Ber van Paolo they are “erratic, sometimes numerous but may be absent for more than a year” so I felt extremely fortunate to have seen him.
