A migratory bird which occasionally comes to Taiwan in winter for breeding or in transit, a Long-toed Stint is spotted in a rice paddy in July in Yi-Lan County, Taiwan. Whether it is an “early bird” or has decided to stay here permanently is unclear, but we do see several other migratory species becoming sedentary in recent years. Perhaps due to climate change?
