Jungle Myna

The Jungle Myna is one of the most beautiful mynas I have ever seen. It belongs to the starling family, but unfortunately this bird is missing in many parts of India. It is found in Rajasthan and some parts of Maharasthra.

It can be easily identified by the standing crest. The eyeball is crystal white with a black spot in the center. The iris and bill are lemon yellow, legs are yellow orange, and it is overall grey brown with a darker head.

Breeding period is from April to June, nest a collection of twigs, roots and feathers stuffed in a tree hole or under bridges, eggs 4-6. The food consists of fruits, grain, flower, nectar and insects.
