One bird I always wanted to see was the Indian Peafowl. I got to see it at the Manas National Park at West Aassam near the border of Bhutan.
The peacock is the most beautiful bird with a glistering blue neck. The beauty of this bird is when it opens its feathers — a sign of courtship. The national bird of India, it is a beauty to be watched at leisure. The shimmering and flickering blue green plumage of the male comprises the longest spectacular tail, which has copper, green and blue discs. The half-sized brownish female lacks all of these and has a white face and throat. It has little of the male’s metallic green sheen at the back of its long neck.
The food is mainly worms, small snakes, lizards. Voice loud, high pitched may yow at dawn and during rains.
