White-crowned Sparrow of the Sonoran desert. We see these sparrows for about two weeks in upstate, NY during spring migration. But I had to go all the way to Arizona to finally have a decent photo op. In October 2015 I spent two days hiking around the foothills of the Superstition Mountain when this sparrow perched right in front of me. It gave me this awesome pose and then flew off. Good enough for me! October 2015 at Lost Dutchman State Park in the Superstition Mountains east of Phoenix, AZ. Canon 7D Mk II using a 100-400mm IS II lens and 1.4x II TC (at 560mm) and handheld.
