Location: Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge, Sanibel Island, FL
It was windy so when this snowy egret extended his neck to check on his neighbor, the wind blew the feathers on the back of his head. The black bill and yellow feet help to differentiate a snowy egret from a white morph reddish egret, an immature little blue heron, and a cattle egret. In addition, there is a substantial size difference between a snowy egret and a great egret.
