Towards the end of winter, I encountered a few Ring-necked ducks in the local ponds as the ice began melting. Here are a few handsome drakes that I photographed on a day with some dynamic lighting. Camera gear used: Canon EOS 1DX Mark II, 500 mm F/4L IS II, 2x teleconverter under a mix of sun and clouds. Middlesex County, MA.
