Over the last few weeks, I’ve been fortunate to spend some time with Red-breasted Nuthatches at a local wildlife sanctuary in my area. I normally see them either scaling a tree in the upward or downward direction but I was excited to get this image of one momentarily pausing on some frozen snow. Camera gear used Canon EOS 1DX Mark II, 500 mm F/4 L IS II, 1.4x teleconverter photographed in open shade on a bright overcast morning.
