Recently, I had the joy of seeing one of this year’s newest class of Piping Plover chicks putting one foot in front of the other so as to take “baby” steps forward. At a young age of less than a week old, they are somewhat clumsy but they show signs of coming up on the learning curve rather quickly. I photographed this bird using a Canon EOS 7D, a 300 mm F/2.8 L IS lens, and a 1.4x tele-extender hand-held while lying prone on the sand under partly sunny skies.
