A male in breeding plumage (long tail). Taken at Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Ana, Orange County, California on Oct. 11, 2014. This native of Africa was introduced to Southern California and now enjoys a self-sustaining population. The whydah is a breeding parasite.
