Location: Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge, Sanibel Island, FL
Early one morning this male osprey was fishing over a containment pond in Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge. This bird is identifiable as a male because it lacks the brown feathers on the neck and upper chest (sometimes described as a “chain of pearls”) present on females.
