I got this shot of the osprey in Warren, Maine, with a Canon 7D Mark II and a 150-600mm Tamron Lens (500mm, f6.3, iso 640, 1/500s). I can say this was a lucky shot as I was not prepared for the osprey to come right toward me with his catch. I’ve spent maybe 10 days in this particular spot trying to take some good shots with no luck (too far away, no fish in the talons, blurry pictures, and so on), but one of the last days there, just before I was preparing to leave for home, I saw one of the osprey with a fresh catch flying toward me with no intent to change direction, so I lifted my camera and started shooting as the osprey flew above my head.
