One of my favorite locations to photograph birds is in South Texas during the migration. This image of a Harris’s Hawk was made in November 2011 when I visited the Tacubaya Ranch. It was made from a blind half underground and half above ground. The bird was swooping in to land on a log perch and I caught him just as he was braking. The camera was a Nikon D3X with a Nikkor 200-400mm lens on shutter priority. The image was processed optimized mostly in Lightroom.
