A Harlequin drake makes a close pass near Cape Ann’s rocky coastline. I photographed this bird using a Canon EOS 7D, a 300 mm F/2.8 L IS lens, and a 1.4x tele-extender under partly sunny – to overcast skies at Andrews Point in Rockport, MA. This lighting condition works will with this type of duck and allows his natural tones to be faithfully recorded on camera.
