There are at least three forms of great blue herons: the common blue form (shown here), a white form, (with all white feathers and a yellow bill), and Wurdeman’s (which has light blue body, a white head, and an orange bill). When in breeding plumage, as shown in this image, great blue herons have longer plumage on the chest and back.
