Downy Woodpecker

A Downy Woodpecker pauses momentarily before returning to a nearby suet feeder at Horn Pond, Woburn, MA. This woodpecker was rather vigilant as there were larger Cardinals and Blue Jays also accessing this perch and the nearby food source. I photographed this bird using a Canon 5D Mark 3, a 300 mm lens, and a 1.4x tele-extender (tripod-mounted) under heavy overcast conditions.
