When I drive along the Lackawaxen River in Pennsylvania looking for Bald Eagles, when I do find some, I tend to find them perching on a branch somewhere above the water, or in flight. Surprised one day to see what I believed was one standing on a rock in the river, I quickly turned around, found a parking area off the road, and was able to determine that it was indeed a Bald Eagle. I managed to get some photos of the “baldie” before it took off shortly thereafter. The sun was just in the right position to create the spectacular background.
