I was doing some birding in my area the day after we had a mixed bag of weather, which included snow, sleet, and freezing rain. As I was driving in a rural area, I encountered a large flock of American Tree Sparrows in a thicket in a roadside ditch. I pulled off, hoping a few of them would stay put for a few photos. I really wanted to get some shots of at least one of the birds perched among the ice-covered branches as I knew it would make for a pretty shot. To my delight, one bird was accommodating for a few photos.
