Although it looks like this downy woodpecker is landing on the wooden post, it’s actually taking off from it. I took this photo in my backyard in Ashland, MA using a Nikon D3100 with an AF-S Nikkor 55-300 lens. This photo and others like it are at http://www.thefieldbrookreserve.com/.
