The Peregrine Falcon is the fastest animal on the planet. Some males have been clocked by radar at more than 200 miles per hour when diving in a “stoop.” In normal flight, they average 25-34 mph, and can accelerate to up to 70 mph in pursuit of their typical prey — ducks and shorebirds. In urban areas, they often specialize on pigeons and gulls.
