Last fall, we invited birdwatchers and photographers to enter photos in our 2022 Bird Portrait contest. The response was fantastic! Contestants submitted more than 540 photos of birds. Thanks to all who entered! The selection of images was outstanding, giving the judges a difficult task.
Today, we’re thrilled to share the finalists. They include photos of owls, hummingbirds, albatrosses, and more. The descriptions of the images come from the photographers. It’s so gratifying to read their descriptions because not only do the photographers take us behind the lens with them to the moment the images were created, but many of them also explain how they took care not to disturb the birds as they took photos.
