“There is an open shelter near a small pond at the Bird Watchers House near the town of Mindo, Ecuador,” says Reg Daves. “After waiting about two hours in the shelter, two toucans flew in. There were four of us in the shelter. We were ecstatic and lucky to have enjoyed their brief visit.”

Equipment and settings: Canon EOS 1D Mark III with an EF 400mm lens and a 1.4x extender. f/5.6 at 1/200 sec.
