Our 2020 Color of Birds contest attracted loads of great images. We’re happy to present this slideshow of honorable mention photos, featuring hummingbirds, toucans, and many more birds. Enjoy!
“I was traveling on the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica in July of 2018 on a trip to photograph birds and other wildlife,” says Cookie Segelstein. “This Scarlet Macaw was part of a flock that was noisily eating and socializing. They seemed oblivious to my colleagues and me, and I set up my tripod and fired away. The light was pretty low for most of our shoots, but this group was in beautiful soft light and put on quite a show!”
Equipment and settings: Nikon D850, 500mm f/4E AF-S NIKKOR FL ED VR lens with 1.4x teleconverter. 1/640 Sec, f/5.6, ISO 1100.
