African Black Oystercatcher
We spotted these birds in a bay that also held terns, gulls, cormorants, plovers, and sandpipers. The oystercatcher is a Near Threatened species, numbering more than 6,000 adults. They live on the coasts and off-shore islands of southern Africa.
