Last month, American Bird Conservancy and the publisher Braided River published a stunning new book titled Bringing Back the Birds: Exploring Migration and Preserving Birdscapes throughout the Americas. This gorgeous coffee-table-style book measures about 12×10 inches, and it uses its large size to display bird photos by Owen Deutsch, a renowned Chicago-based photographer.
Deutsch has spent the last 20 years traveling around the world striving to capture the essence of birds. He soon found his fascination with the beauty of birds evolving into a passion for saving them. Through the book’s elegant collection of his photographs, he has joined with ABC to share not only what is extraordinary about birds, but also to enlighten us about the threats they face and what we can do about it.
We’re thrilled to present the following gallery of 10 photos from the book.
A species limited to Costa Rica and Panama, the Snowy-bellied Hummingbird prefers brushy woodlands and open areas.
