While on a hike in the Galapagos Islands, I spotted a blue-footed booby asleep on the path. I carefully set up my camera to photograph the bird, thankful to have a still subject. The ground around the bird was the same color as the feathers so I zoomed in to avoid the background because of the lack of contrast. Finally, I was all set to take my close-up picture of a sleeping bird, but just as I clicked the shutter, he opened his eye, which made a much more interesting shot. Thank goodness for luck!
