The Blue-Eyed Shag is also known as Antarctic Shag. The Island that Port Lockroy is on is shaped something like an hourglass, with two main sections connected by a narrow connection. After checking out the small historic museum, ant the penguins near it, I started to walk to the other half of the island where I knew there was a group of these Blue-Eyed Shags. I was still in the narrow connection are when this Blue-Eyed Shag flew straight at me then turned to the side giving me this great shot. From a distance, when these birds are on the ground, they look a lot like penguins due to the same black and white coloring as most of the penguins.
