Image Description
As the autumn winds blow, and temperatures drop, memories of summer months and the wonderful experiences we shared with our hummers, now comfortably in Costa Rica and points south, are still top of mind. The male hummer, shown here, is usually the first to arrive in spring and first to leave in late summer. However, this summer we had three breeding cycles and the young males of the third brood were the last to head south in late September. This particular photo is of a dominant older male, posturing for the attentions of the females.
