This largest member of the barbet family is notable for ultra-bright colors which make him easy to spot at a distance. In addition, they are most cooperative for photographers, offering multiple poses on a perch for many minutes at a time. My morning coffee was just starting to wake me up at 5:45am when he appeared, but this striking neotropical specimen finished the job for me!
