Image Description
Green herons usually seem to spend their time along the banks of lakes, ponds and rivers patiently leaning over the water waiting for prey to swim by. This bird, however, took a break from its normal routine and landed on a branch about 8 or 10 feet above the water putting itself on display. The background was across a body of water, thus making it possible to blur out even at f6.3. It was sheer luck that from my vantage point the light subtly highlighted the spider's web atop which the bird sat.
