This week, we launched a new free bird art contest in partnership with bird artist and author David Sibley and his book publisher, Alfred A. Knopf, a division of Penguin Random House.
The contest is being conducted entirely on Instagram. To participate, you’ll need to have a public Instagram profile, be at least 18 years old, and be a resident of the United States. All entrants will need to follow the accounts @aaknopf, @sibleyguides, and @birdwatchingmagazine.
Enter your original drawings, paintings, or other art depicting wild birds by posting the images on Instagram and using the hashtag #SibleyBirdWatchingArtContest.
The contest will end on June 15, so don’t delay.
After the contest period ends, staff from Penguin Random House will select 10 finalists. Entries will be judged on accuracy and the ability to capture the spirit of the bird subject, with equal weight being given to each criterion.
By late June, Sibley himself will select the top three winners. Prizes include a subscription to BirdWatching and copies of two of Sibley’s books, What It’s Like to Be a Bird and The Sibley Birds Coloring Field Journal.
You can find the complete rules here.
We’re excited to see your art! Good luck!
