June 30 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

In a virtual field trip presented by PBS’s award-winning science series NOVA, writer and editor Christian Cooper discusses his passion and tips for birdwatching, his experience #BirdingWhileBlack, and his advocacy work toward making birding more inclusive for people of color and the LGBTQ+ community.

Chris currently serves on the Board of Directors for NYC Audubon and, on May 25, 2020, he experienced a racist confrontation while birdwatching in Central Park that inspired the creation of #BlackBirdersWeek. He is an avid birder and a board member of New York City Audubon. A former editor and writer for Marvel Comics, he is currently a biomedical editor with Health Science Communications.
