Birding & Blues Festival
May 1, 2015 - May 3, 2015
Come explore the natural Oregon coast with local birding experts. The Birding & Blues festival is a non-profit organization in Pacific City, Oregon, that works to bring a fun and informative festival to the community and raise awareness for conservation. On Friday night, we will feature our classic community night, with free presentations, free children’s art activities, and a live birds of prey demonstration.
On Saturday, May 2 we have a full schedule of presentations and guided field trips. Our keynote speaker Susan Haig will present Condors in the Northwest on Saturday from 1:30-2:45, where she will explore the probable reasons for California Condor extinction in the Pacific Northwest and the viability for rehabilitation in this region.
Saturday night, we will have a headlining blues band, the T-Bones, performing at the Kiawanda Community Center beginning at 8:00 pm. This concert is all ages.
Sunday, May 3 we will continue our nature presentations and guided field trips. Take part in exploring the vast wilds of the coastal line. We will travel to the newest addition to the Nestucca Bay National Wildlife Refuge, the Two Rivers Peninsula. There will also be presentations for eBird, sponsored by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Learn how to use the new app and then follow your guide out the door and start your bird count and identification.
