Gallery member Tahir Abbas is the winner of our Photo of the Week Contest for November and December with this picture of squabbling Blue-tailed Bee-eaters. He shot the photo in May 2015 in northeastern Pakistan and posted it in our World Gallery. We featured it during the week of December 14.

Bird photographer and frequent BirdWatching contributor Brian Small was our judge. His photos appear in our “ID Tips” column in every issue of the magazine.

“I’ve judged a fair number of photo contests over the years, and this wonderful photograph would contend for a prize in any of them,” Small says. “The image has it all: beautiful composition, a lovely neutral-toned soft background, sharp focus, perfect exposure, and best of all, wonderful interaction between the birds. The photo makes me want to get on a plane to Southeast Asia to photograph this species. I’d be lucky to come home with something as good as this!”

We’ll publish Abbas’s photo in “Your View” in our April 2016 issue.
