This endearing image of an adult Sandhill Crane and its young colt is our new photo of the week.

Gallery member Sharon Sauriol shot the photo at Kensington Metropark, a large area with wetlands, forests, and fields northwest of Detroit. Sandhill Crane is one of more than 250 bird species found at the park.

Sharon took the photo with a Sony SLT-A65V camera and a 70-400mm f/4-5.6 lens and posted it to our U.S. and Canada gallery.
