Roseate Spoonbills ©2013 Georgia Wilson

Gallery member Georgia Wilson shot this endearing photo of a young Roseate Spoonbill feeding from an adult’s bill at a water-management area known as the Stick Marsh near Melbourne, Florida. She used a Nikon D5000 and a Sigma 150-500mm lens and posted the photo to our U.S. and Canada gallery.

“There were lots of juvenile spoonbills, and they were relentless in their pursuit of food,” Georgia tells us.

Five places to find Roseate Spoonbill:
Estero Llano Grande State Park, Weslaco, Texas
Mitchell Lake Audubon Center, San Antonio, Texas
Savannas Preserve State Park, Port Saint Lucie, Florida
Smith Oaks Bird Sanctuary, High Island, Texas
Tosohatchee Wildlife Management Area, Christmas, Florida
