David Daniels shot this photo of a Western Meadowlark on May 28, 2013, at Cherry Creek State Park in Denver, Colorado.

“I was walking along a trail adjacent to an area where I had noticed a number of birds,” he tells us. “The meadowlark flew from the grass into the air about 20 feet from me. I quickly sighted the bird in my viewfinder and shot a burst of 5-6 shots as I tracked the bird while panning the camera.”

David used a Canon 7D and a 70-200mm L f/4 USM lens.
