Often compared to Roger Tory Peterson, Kaufman is an elective member of the American Ornithologists' Union, the youngest person ever to receive the Ludlow Griscom Award of the American Birding Association, and a deserving recipient of the ABA's Roger Tory Peterson Award for the Promotion of Birding.
