STRANGELY FAMILIAR: This juvenile songbird is in a plumage that few observers will find familiar. Its streaks, wingbars, and other aspects are utterly unlike the adult plumage, but by studying the pattern of the primaries (black with white bases and partial white edges on the outer primaries), secondaries (black with broad white edges on the tertials), and tail (black with white outer web and tip), we can find the one species that matches - Eastern Towhee.
