Australia has several species of robins, the plumage of the scarlet is particularly vivid. Found in single or pairs. The male has a scarlet breast, white lower abdomen, black head, black throat with a conspicuous white patch above the bill. The wings are barred white and the outer tail is also white. size 13 cm.
Indigenous Australians of the southwestern Australia believed the stain on the breast was the result of a Willy Wag-tail. The robin is said to have been punched on the beak causing it to bleed which is said to have discoloured the robin’s breast.
