While looking at birds one recent foggy November (Nov. 8) morning along the Oakland/Alameda estuary in the San Francisco Bay, I came upon this beauty. I’m new to birdwatching and can’t see details from a distance, but I recently bought a camera with zoom capacity, which really brings the colors and other details into focus. I’m guessing this is a snowy egret due to the yellow feet, and the fact that they visit the area around Arrowhead Marsh (one of the hotspots highlighted in a recent issue of BirdWatching magazine).
