Burrowing Owl in British Columbia could be considered a rarity as it is officially extirpated. However, thanks to the efforts of countless volunteers, the owl is making a comeback, and is being re-introduced to selected sites, primarily on private land to minimize disturbance. This image was taken in grassland habitat south of the city of Kamloops during the summer of 2013.
