Andover, MA – Feb. 27
One of 2 stragglers from large flocks of robins that have been frequenting Andover’s downtown for much of the winter, feeding on holly berries, winterberry and Centurion crabapples. Most trees and shrubs were denuded by late February, and the flocks have gone elsewhere. This robin and a female have been wandering the sidewalks since, gleaning old fruit melting out of snowbanks and generally ignoring pedestrians. They have eagerly taken chopped cranberries scattered around the trees.
