This Painted Bunting showed up in Newport, R.I. in early March and has been
present since then. On a feeder located at a private residence. You can’t miss the striking colors as it flew from nearby shrubbery to the feeders. It was viewed & photographed by many birders, this being a very special find, as it’s only about the eleventh sighting of this bird in Rhode Island since 1900, and perhaps one of the earliest photographic evidence of species.
The bird hasn’t been around for couple of days. Perhaps it’s gone back to warmer
climates? Made for a good Winter, and hopefully an early Spring.
