Every summer, we get nesting ruby-throated hummingbirds on our property in northern New Jersey. By mid-July, the babies have all fledged and my garden turns into a high-speed game of “guard the feeder”. This photo is of a young male, zooming through the sunflowers in my garden, pausing for a brief moment to check me out.
