Hermit thrushes winter in the lowlands of the Willamette Valley, dispersing to their higher elevation breeding grounds in spring. This Hermit thrush visited our suet feeder in Corvallis, OR in December 2011. The dark chest markings and rusty red tail are distinctive. Shot using a Nikon D300 camera with a Nikkor 300 mm lens from the back porch of our home, and cropped in Photoshop.
