I have enjoyed watching the birds on the feeders in my backyard for years. A year ago, I received a camera as a gift. I decided to venture out beyond the feeders, into my wooded lot. This is where I stumbled across this female American Redstart. I watched as it quietly hopped from branch to branch. I admit, I did not know what type of bird this was. I was used to seeing the birds at the feeders, and this was something I had never seen before. I was very excited after this and thought that there were other birds for me to discover. Sure enough. Over the past year, I have seen so many different types of birds in my yard. I am sorry that I missed out on this for so many years. I am grateful and look forward to discover more of what flies beyond my feeders!
